“A new command I give to you: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” -John 13:34-35
Men love coming to Bethany because we practice what Peter Marshall, a former chaplain to the United Senate, called muscular Christianity. Men at Bethany realize that growing in a relationship with Jesus, the carpenter from Nazareth, is the most important thing we can do for our families and our world. We also know we can’t be who God wants us to be when we try to go it alone. So we seek to grow and serve in the context of community. In addition to serving in virtually every ministry of the church, Bethany men retreat to the mountains together each fall and host a fishing derby for area children at the church pond each spring. If you’d like to be a part of the men’s team, contact Bobby Wheeler
Our Worship and Arts ministry serves the Bethany family on Sunday mornings and at special services by leading the church in worship through music and other arts.
We have a number of teams that all work together to provide a time of encouragement and inspiration as we draw near to God each week. We currently have 3 different worship bands (for hearing musicians), a visual worship team (that presents songs in American Sign Language), a sound team, an AV team, and a worship planning team that puts all the pieces together and adds other creative elements to our Sunday program.
If you would like to explore using your gifts in worship, please contact our Worship Coordinator or just write a note on your Connection Card on a Sunday morning, and indicate where you would like to serve – or, just talk to anyone that you see on stage any Sunday and they can help you get connected. Practices typically occur every Thursday night at 7:30PM in the main sanctuary.
You are welcome to drop in to visit and meet our teams (though it is best to let someone know you are coming in case of a schedule change). We want you to see for yourself what is involved in participating in this vital ministry area
Bethany Community Church has been blessed with a beautiful 24 acre campus that was donated to the church by the family of Dr. James W. Smith. We have a 25,000 square foot ministry center, the Caleb Carr House (a historic log cabin built in the 1790’s), and a barn. The responsibility for improving and maintaining these important ministry assets has been entrusted to our Facility Management Board. If you’d like to volunteer to help in this vital area, please contact our Board President, Tom Kelly
Bethany’s Lay Counseling Ministry has lay counselors available who will journey with you as you work through difficult life circumstances. Our desire is to come alongside you — seeing, hearing, feeling, and responding as Christ would. We hope to help you search beyond your circumstances to explore God’s movement in your life. We will encourage spiritual and emotional growth so that you may be moved toward a greater dependency on Him. If you want to speak with someone about meeting with one of our lay counselors or just find out more about this ministry click here and one of our team will get back to you soon.
