Learn more about Bethany's history, who we are, and what it is we believe so that you can decide if this is the right church for you.
Our purpose is to help people begin and grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
Our vision is that this will result in…
As a church we have taken seriously the challenge Jesus gave us to make disciples – known as the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18-20)
We seek to help one another become authentic followers of Jesus. We do this through corporate worship, teaching, deep friendships, and community life together.
We seek to help others begin this process by providing them with the opportunity to make an informed decision to follow Jesus in the context of a caring relationship.
We have accepted responsibility for the spiritual life of the greater community in the central Baltimore-Washington Corridor. Thus, we will be actively engaged in its day-to-day life: We will model the love of Jesus to its government, schools, and business community. We expect God to call individuals from our congregation to affect each of these areas of community life.
We have accepted responsibility to carry the good news of Jesus beyond our own community to our region and even to distant parts of the world. (Acts 1:8) We have partnered with a network of other churches called Converge to work together to achieve this vision.
We are convinced that the most effective means of achieving this end is through the establishment of new churches, and will work diligently to assist in their birth. We are convinced that our priority must be in reaching those who are not involved in a church and particularly those who have never heard the gospel. (2 Cor. 10:15b-18) We understand that this will affect how we plan our strategy here at home and around the world. We understand that we will have to say ‘no’ to many worthwhile projects in order to concentrate on this priority.
We seek to uphold the honor of Jesus until He returns in all His glory. We seek to conform our characters to His, to continually declare His goodness, and to promote vital, vibrant worship among His followers.
